About the Job
The Jr. Project Manager will work along side the Project Manager and will be responsible for assisting in the successful planning and execution of projects.  He/she will assist in all phases of the construction project, including; coordinating workers, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed, work is proceeding on schedule and within budget and maintaining customer satisfaction throughout the job. Job duties are subject to job role additions and changes at any time.

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent.
Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000.00 per year.
Benefits: Comprehensive health/dental benefits after 3 months; Company RRSP contributions after 1 year.
Location: Hamilton, ON.
Working Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday (Occasional evening meetings, site visits, client events, or other business-related activities may be required).

QUALIFICATIONS AND OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong Computer skills in Excel, Word Pro, Auto Cad, Microsoft Project manger and Adobe reader.
  • Construction Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering Technician certificate or Degree, any Architectural Certificates, Certified Project Manager, etc. 
  • Valid drivers’ licence with a good driver abstract.
  • Able to read blueprints and understand elevations.
  • Recognize and follow occupational hazards and standard safety precautions.
  • 1-2 years of similar experience (Project Coordinator or Project Administrator) an asset.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Assist the Project manager in all functions including but not limited to the following:
  • Attend and participate in daily and weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with Estimators, Construction Superintendents, and Oakridge Owners.
  • Assist in hiring of sub trades, purchasing of materials, complete the daily and weekly project schedule, etc.
  • Maintain and manage all administrative documentation generated on projects.
  • Complete site visits as needed.
  • Assist in setting up projects.
  • Assist Superintendents with Job Setups and participate in Job Kick Off Meetings.
  • Liaison with clients when needed.
  • Attend various site meetings with clients, architects, engineers, etc. as may be required and maintain an excellent working relationship with them.
  • Track and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated.
  • Constantly review the progress of projects.  Be aware of cost, labor, and material overruns. When there are overruns you MUST take immediate action to resolve them. 
  • Review the project costs vs. planned cost and report to the Project Manager.

SAFETY:
  • Be familiar with the OLC Safety Manual and to ensure that all sites are continually safe.
  •  Ensure that a Occupational Health and Safety Act (Green Book) is on site at all times.
  • Understanding the employees rights and responsibilities through the OHSA (Green Book) and ensuring proper safety precautions are being followed at all times.
  • Be familiar with OLC WSIB procedure in the event an accident occurs.
  • Understanding that if OLC is not the General Contractor on a project, than it is necessary to be aware of and know the General Contractors Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Take immediate action to rectify any hazardous conditions and report back such to Oakridge.
  • Ensure all employees, contractors and sub contractors are adhering to the OLC Safety Manual.
  • Continually promotes job safety and encourages safe work practices.
  • Be familiar with rules surrounding digging.  Call for locates when required.
  • Have red tags available (see red tag policy) when tools and equipment need repair or are faulty.
