About the Position
Oakridge Landscape Contractors is seeking an experienced Intermediate Project Manager to oversee landscape construction projects from planning through completion.
The Intermediate Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, profitably, on schedule and within budget. This position coordinates field teams, subcontractors, materials and equipment while maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers and suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple landscape construction projects from start to finish.
- Review estimates, contracts, drawings, specifications, project scopes and budgets.
- Develop project schedules, labour requirements and cost-effective execution plans.
- Lead project kickoff meetings and provide Superintendents with the information required to complete each project successfully.
- Coordinate Superintendents, field employees, subcontractors, suppliers, materials and equipment.
- Obtain pricing and negotiate with subcontractors and material suppliers.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders.
- Obtain locates and ensure required project documentation is completed.
- Attend site meetings with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors and other project partners.
- Track project schedules, labour, materials and costs to identify and address overruns.
- Ensure change orders are approved, documented and tracked before additional work proceeds.
- Maintain regular communication with Estimators, Superintendents, senior management and clients.
- Support project invoicing, closeout, warranty and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure completed sites meet Oakridge’s quality and safety standards.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure employees, contractors and subcontractors follow Oakridge and general contractor safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- Five or more years of project management experience.
- Strong knowledge of landscape construction.
- Experience managing multiple projects, crews, budgets and schedules.
- Strong understanding of contracts, change orders, liens, holdbacks, warranties and construction administration.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, estimates and financial reports.
- Experience negotiating with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and project partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
- A diploma or degree in construction, civil engineering, landscape construction or a related field is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard construction safety practices.
